Spotlight: Jeana Sohn
It’s been a little bit since my last Spotlight feature, but I’m so excited for today’s (plus some other good ones coming up!) with Jeana Sohn. I’ve been following Jeana ever since I discovered her past creative project, Closet Visit, and now she has her own clothing line, which I covet every piece of! She has an incredible eye and sense of style in both her clothing and her home—I’m continually inspired by her…
IN HER WORDS…
Hi, my name is Jeana Sohn and I’m originally from a small town in Korea. Currently I live in Silverlake, Los Angeles with my composer husband and 8 year old son. I have a small clothing line called Jeana Sohn. It’s a long story, but I’d done many different things before I started my clothing line. My first job was as a storyboard artist for TV and then I made paintings for about 5 years before I started taking photos for fashion brands. While I was working with designers as a photographer, I got curious about making clothes and I started my own line in fall, 2018. I really enjoy designing clothes and hope I can do this for a long time.
HOW SHE’S KEEPING SPIRITS UP…
Like a lot of people, I’ve been focusing on making our home more beautiful and cozy, especially the kitchen and bedroom. I’ve been reupholstering and replacing some of our furniture to make the house feel refreshed. We are waiting for our new dining table to be finished and my family’s so excited about it. :) Also a lot of purging is happening and that’s a good distraction.
It’s been quite challenging with my 8 year old son in Zoom school, but I’m grateful that I’ve been spending so much time with him. We do so many things together and I don’t think this kind of a long bonding time would come again—that makes me feel less sad about the pandemic.
CURRENTLY WATCHING, READING, LISTENING…
I’ve been reading books of Korean poetry to calm myself down. My husband and I have been watching Pen15 for laughs—it’s so funny.

Looking toward the future…
I can’t wait to travel again. My parents live in Korea and we love going to Korea every spring. We had to cancel our trip this year and we are so sad about it. Also I miss having dinner with my girlfriends!
I absolutely love the way Jeana captures everyday life and she created a couple videos while at home during quarantine—here is one of my favorites:
Thank you so much Jeana! Read more Spotlight profiles here.
