Etsy Finds No. 01
I’ve always been a big fan of Etsy, but especially so in the last year as we’re decorating our home. It’s become one of my favorite places to hunt for vintage items, custom pieces and handmade things. It can be super overwhelming, so I wanted to start a new series on the blog highlighting some recent finds of mine! Also sharing how I navigate Etsy and some tips & tricks—I hope this is helpful for you!
Etsy can be a never-ending black hole (which is part of what makes it great!) but can be stressful if you don’t know what you’re looking for. I always start by looking for something specific—I keep a list in the Notes app on my phone of things I’m always on the hunt for (rattan anything, small rugs, etched glass, vintage fabric…) and will start there. I often make a note of vintage or antique pieces I see in stores, at markets, in magazines or on Instagram and take note of search terms. If you look for pieces you love on 1st Dibs, Chairish or any other sites, then you can use their search terms to look for similar pieces on Etsy.
Definitely utilize favorite items, favorite shops and saved searches! I like to favorite any items I come across so I can always go back to them. You can also save your searches so whenever something new comes up that fits the criteria, it’ll show up for you. Oftentimes when I am looking for something, I’ll come across a great piece and will then check out the shop it’s in—sometimes you can find other things you love, but wouldn’t have searched for, this way!
