Austin
I wanted to share a little guide to Austin with you from our trip there last month. I have been to Austin a few times now and it’s such a fun place to visit. Because we were in Texas mainly for Round Top, we only spent about a day and a half exploring new spots in Austin itself. We mostly wanted to check out some restaurants, home shops and vintage spots, so this post is focused on that. We got some amazing recommendations from some local friends and they did not disappoint!
One of our favorite shops we visited was Thompson Hanson. They have two other locations in Houston and the shop in Austin is called the Garden House. It is such a beautifully curated shop with home decor, antiques, furniture, garden supplies and clothing. I could have walked out with the entire store, but settled on this marble tray which is perfect for holding our salt & pepper shakers in our kitchen. I had been on the hunt for something like this and was so excited to finally find the perfect tray. My friend Chloe got one of their sweet woven lampshades and I can’t wait to see it in her space!
A must stop for us was Canvas Showroom, which is run by Christina Cole & Co. It’s a direct to the trade showroom and we were so thrilled to spend a couple hours there talking with the team and dying over the gorgeous fabrics and rugs they had. This was such an inspiring stop for us and gave me a lot of ideas for the future—every detail was exquisite. If you are an interior designer and in Austin, it’s a must visit!
A few other notable stops:
— On our last day, we made it to Claire Brody Home before we went to the airport and it is such a sweet shop with lots of unique vintage and home finds.
— We stopped into the gorgeously curated clothing store, Kickpleat, which is where I got “The Sweater” that I haven’t stopped wearing!
— A meal at Josephine House is a must when in Austin. We stopped for lunch and everything was so delicious. The best Paloma I’ve had in a long time!
— We had dinner one night at Suerte, which was such a unique and amazing dining experience.
— A visit to the Austin Proper Hotel was high on our list and we went one night for drinks and dinner at La Piscina, their pool-side restaurant. It’s a gorgeous hotel designed by Kelly Wearstler with fun details everywhere you look.
— We loved Revival Vintage and found some cool vintage decor books here.
